On April 8, 2024, the Council for International Relations–Greece and IDIS organized a lecture by Andrew R. Novo, Professor of Strategic Studies National Defense University, Washington, D.C. , on the topic “We have good allies: Allies and decisions for war and peace in Thucydides.”
Introductory remarks were addressed by Professor Aristotle Tziampiris, Professor of International Relations, Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus.
The panel of speakers included:

Andrew R. Novo is a Professor of Strategic Studies at the National Defense University, Washington, D.C. An expert in ancient and modern European history and strategic studies, Dr. Novo also teaches for the Johns Hopkins University program in Global Security Studies and the Georgetown School of Foreign Service. His most recent books are The EOKA Cause: Nationalism and the Failure of Cypriot Enosis (2021) and Restoring Thucydides: Testing familiar lessons and deriving new ones (2020) with Dr. Jay Parker.
