On October 20 and 21, 2022, the Council for International Relations–Greece, the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia, the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus, the Department of International, European and Regional Studies of Panteion University and the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese, co-organized an International Conference entitled “International Impact of War Ukraine”, in memory of Professor Ilias Kouskouvelis, who had served as Rector of the University of Macedonia, and Vice President of the Council for International Relations–Greece.
The conference was held in Thessaloniki, in order to highlight the contribution of the deceased to the development of the Ιnternational Relations community in Greece.
The opening remarks were addressed by Stylianos D. Katranidis, Rector of the University of Macedonia, Professor Dimitris Skiadas, Professor and Chairman of the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Macedonia, and Professor Aristotle Tziampiris, Professor of International Relations, Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus.
This was followed by the speeches by:
Konstantinos Arvanitopoulos, Professor of International Relations at Panteion University and former Minister of Education and Religious Affairs;
Rebecca Paidi, Associate Professor of the Department of International and European Studies, University of Macedonia.
The first part of the event concluded with a keynote speech by Andrew R. Novo, Professor at the National Defense University, Washington, D.C., on the topic “Thucydides and the war in Ukraine.”
