Democracy: 2,500 years after"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the Battle of Salamis, which prevented the Persian Empire from conquering Greece, and preserved the culture and the Democracy of Greece, the Council for International Relations\u2013Greece, the University of Piraeus (Department of International and European Studies), the University of Thessaly (Department of Economics) and the Delphi Economic Forum organized in October 2020 an international conference entitled \u201c<strong>Salamis &amp; Democarcy: 2,5000 years after<\/strong>,\u201d under the auspices of Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to Athens\u2019 substantial naval might, this conference presented an opportunity to address long-standing geopolitical issues, economic policies, governmental organization, social attitudes, and justice issues that Athenian democrats have faced throughout history and which continue to do so today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>30 academics from Greece, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Portugal, and Northern Ireland presented their research on the conference areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch Day 1<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Day 1 - Salamis &amp;
